The project involves a school community masterplan on a 55 ha site in Fujian province on the southeast coast of mainland China. Blessed with the beauty of undulating hills and existing water body, the project showcases landscape open spaces, sport fields, dormitories, faculty buildings, hotel and residential villas. IO Landscape team was commissioned for 2 phases including the main Administrative building with decorative entry park, public spaces associated with 9 faculty buildings, four dormitory buildings with common garden areas and an iconic canteen building with waterfront promenade. Beautiful natural landscape features such as hills, valleys, lakes, rivers and seasonal streams have been preserved and enhanced through careful grading and placement of activities such as passive open spaces, trials and park. IO Landscape brought to the site a cherry blossom concept which strives to create innovative, cultural open spaces with various landscape experiences. The design aimed to maximize the efficiency of the local eco-systems, enhance the campus environment and quality, and demonstrate local culture and features.
